Academics

Learner support

Small classes are the start. When a boy needs more, the College has the machinery to notice and the staff to act.

The safety net

Four layers of support

The remedial department

A full-time department. Every boy is given diagnostic tests on arrival, and where performance is not matching potential he is timetabled, individually or in small groups on a pull-out basis, for remedial work in English and Mathematics.

Counselling

A staff counsellor is available to meet any pupil individually and in confidence, on any problem: academic, social or moral.

Daily report

A boy not working to standard may be placed on Daily Report, administered weekly by the Deputy Head or Head of Year, with parents kept in the loop. Parents may also request a progress and behaviour report at any time.

The library

Open before school, at break, lunch and after classes until 15:00 Monday to Thursday, with internet and computer research facilities and a wide range of magazines. One book at a time, two weeks, renewable.
