About the College
Ethos & values
An education for life, guided by Christian principles and built for the world your son will step into.
Our vision
“To be a world-class provider of holistic education based on Christian values.”
Our mission
“To be a world-class centre of learning providing education for life; education relevant for societal challenges and education guided by Christian principles.”
What we hold to
Three values
Excellence
Doing and being the best we can be, in the classroom, on the field, and in everything between.
Humanity
Compassion towards our fellow man, practised daily and expected of every boy.
Christ-likeness
Imitating Jesus Christ in all we do: the value that holds the other two together.
Inspired by Edmund Rice
Faith as lived practice
Worship
All pupils and staff attend Mass, and every class begins the day with morning prayers. Catholic pupils receive specific instruction in doctrine; every boy's own background, tradition and beliefs are respected.
Community
The College is a community of Christian care in which a boy can grow to maturity: the strong are expected to support the weak, and every visitor is met with a greeting.
Discipline
A disciplined atmosphere in which each boy takes increasing responsibility for his actions and for the life of the College.
Service
A special concern for the poor and underprivileged, from the Brothers' daily feeding scheme to compulsory community service for every Lower Sixth boy.
Partnership with parents
The primary right and duty to educate belongs to parents. In choosing the College, families subscribe to its philosophy, and the school works with their trust and co-operation.
Viriliter Age
“The years of youth at C.B.C., of training to act manfully, can ne'er be spent in better way.”
From the school song, Viriliter Age
