The curriculum
Broad first, deep later: the College's policy is a wide foundation in the first two years, with specialisation growing from the third.
Forms 1 & 2
As broad an educational experience as possible
Every boy studies the full foundation: languages, mathematics, sciences, humanities, and the practical and creative subjects, including AutoCAD, Computer Science, Music and Design & Technology. Supervised prep runs 13:05 to 13:40, Monday to Thursday.
Forms 3 & 4
Specialisation begins, O Level sits at Form 4
A number of subjects are compulsory; options let each boy combine academic, commercial and practical subjects. Syllabuses lead to University of Cambridge certification at O Level.
Lower & Upper Sixth
A Level depth, university-ready
Boys read three or four A Level subjects across sciences, commercials, humanities and design. Certification by the University of Cambridge at Upper Sixth. Lower Sixth boys also give community service within the College.
Class sizes
College policy is to restrict classes to a manageable size, so teaching meets each boy where he is.
Homework
Each boy keeps a homework diary, issued on the first day of the year, and parents are urged to check it. There is no such thing as no homework: if nothing is set, there is revision, reading and preparation.
The daily calendar
By the first day of each term a daily calendar of all activities for the whole term is issued to every pupil, as much for parents as for the boys.
